Sorry about the two week hiatus. Time seems to fly by lately.

Last Sunday we took Brinley to the Boston Children’s Museum. Boy was it crowded. At one point I thought we were going to have to leave because we could barely move around. Scott was getting claustrophobic. Brinley, however, didn’t seem to mind. She was just in awe of all the cool things around her. She really enjoyed the bubble room and rolling golf balls down ramps. She played in water with little boats and ducks and pushed little trucks around the construction zone. It was so amazing to watch her doing all of these things. She seemed to fit right in with the “big kids”. Its a bit scary and sad that she is growing so fast.

This Saturday we got to spend some much needed time with our niece and cousin, Kayla. She will be six weeks old tomorrow and she’s getting so big, though it hardly seems like it when we compare her to Brinley. Kayla is just adorable with her big blue eyes and little tufts of blonde hair. She is a good reminder to me of what it was like when Brinley was that small because honestly its very hard to remember when she was that young. Scott and I often find ourselves trying to remember what it was like waking up two to three times a night and we simply can’t do it. I think the lack of sleep in those days really puts your mind in a fog. There were a few moments on Saturday when Scott was holding Kayla and I had Brinley that really gave us a nice glimpse into our potential future. In all honesty, it didn’t seem that bad. I know having two kids someday will be a lot of work, but it just feels like Scott and I are meant to be parents. We both just love it so much.

Brinley continues to speak new words and is really into the two word phrase stage. She has started “labeling” objects. The other day right before lunch she walked around the kitchen table pointing at chairs and declaring: “mommy chair, daddy chair”. Then during lunch she looked at the empty pickle jar (pickles are her new favorite food) and stated, “all gone pickle”. Scott and I were amazed. Its becoming so easy to understand her needs and wants with all of her new words.

I got her an easel last week and she really loves that too. She holds her crayons so perfectly and scribbles so carefully. She loves when Scott or I will draw a character or object that she knows. She will quickly name it for us. Some of her favorites are Elmo (which Scott is a master at drawing), baby, and bear. Neither Scott or I have mastered drawing a baby yet. It never looks quite right.

I’ll try to be better about my blogging. Sometimes life just catches up with you and its hard to find the time but I hope you’re all enjoying reading about our adventures.
